16th and 17th Apartments Cleaned and Furnished for Adopt-An-Apartment Program

In May and June, members of Trinity and St. James Pitman completed the cleaning and furnishing of a 16th and 17th apartment for the Brethren Housing Association’s Adopt-An-Apartment Program. Both of these apartments are located in Harrisburg. Apartment 16 is a first and second floor, two-bedroom residence while the 17th is a first floor, two bedroom apartment. These apartments will become a home for two young mothers and their families. As always, a big thank-you to all who helped clean, and for donating and transporting the items needed to complete the furnishing of these two apartments and helping to make them homes for these two homeless families.

BHA has programs or partners with other organizations to help young mothers become self-sufficient. Included is job training/seeking/maintaining services, parenting education, life skills training, counseling services, and youth programs for the kids. BHA staff and volunteers continuously show these moms the love and care they need to develop and realize their own self-worth, empowering them to overcome the obstacles that lead them to the homelessness situation.
