Two Water Reservoirs Provided for Families in Haiti

Trinity was able to provide two water reservoirs for families in Haiti during a period of time when donations were matched in this H2OPE Ministries Program.

The following article describes what a difference these reservoirs are making for the people of Haiti.

WE LOVE THE IMPACTS WE ARE SEEING!

Thanks to the Lord, we celebrated the graduation of our first community Mahotière in November 2023. With the completion of 88 wells, every family in that community is now being served by a reservoir and no longer needs to walk to collect the water they need for their daily use.

As a result of providing water to all in that graduated area, the field is reporting the following impacts:

• More than 600 people in Mahotière now have water for their daily use at home. No more collection from non-protected and contaminated flowing streams that often expose humans and livestock to water-borne diseases.

• Over 90 women now have more time to support their families and 33% of them have already started income generating assets activities. Through these activities they are earning an additional $150 USD approx. per month, which is contributing to better care for their families, especially their children.

• More than 80 men are finding more time to allocate to their income generation activities and have reported an increase of approximately 12% of their income, due to the additional time they have to prepare for their agricultural planting season more effectively and the increased water supply.

• Over 400 kids now have the opportunity to be in school instead of collecting water at dawn for the family.

• Job creation: Laborers that are employed for the construction of the reservoirs are from the very communities we serve. That contributes to generating income for the recipients of the wells.

The fund is not only helping in providing access to water but also to improve the condition of those who need that most. the family. Currently, h2ope Ministries is building reservoirs in four different communities. Our goal for 2024 is to complete the additional reservoirs that need to be built to graduate two more communities from water scarcity. The first community is Dumisso, which we hope to graduate in July by building an additional 40 reservoirs in that area.
